The Need for Controlled Shocks - a New Type of Shock Exciter Allows to Apply Well Defined Mechanical Shocks
نویسندگان
چکیده
Shock exciters available on the market today suffer from a lack of control of the generated shocks. This paper will present a new type of shock exciter developed by SPEKTRA which is based on the well known HopkinsonBar but using a piezoelectric actuator to apply the force pulse input (* patent pending, [1]). It will be shown that a piezoelectric actuator driven Hopkinson-Bar generates well defined shocks allowing the control of pulse width and amplitude independently over a wide range. Furthermore the spectrum of the applied shocks can be controlled accurately by shaping the input force pulse coming from the actuator. Thus this new shock exciter is a valuable tool for shock calibration in metrology as well as for sensor characterisation in development departments.

New classes of Extereme Shock Models
In industry or nature, there are systems subjected to a secuence of shocks ocurring randomly in time. these shocks are causing aging or failure of system. According to the type of shocks, shock models divided in two major groups, Extreme Shock Models and Cumulative Shock Models. In the extreme shock models just impact of last shock named fatal shock would be studied and in the cumul...
متن کاملThe optimal age-based replacement policy for systems subject to shocks
In this article, two different systems subject to shocks occurring based on a non-homogeneous Poisson process (NHPP) are analyzed. Type –I system is consisted of a single unit and type –II system is consisted of two parallel units in which both units operate identically and simultaneously. In type –I system occurrence of a shock causes system stopping and consequently will be received minimal r...

T he world economy has experienced a bulk of positive and negative shocks in crude oil prices and exchange rates over the years, and that global inflation has undergone some changes. Such shocks have affected the macroeconomic variables in the countries of the world and have challenged the economies of these countries, and have led them to take different measures to protect themselves agai...
متن کاملThe Lifetime Behavior of a New Discrete Time Mixed $delta$-shock Model
In this study, a mixed $delta$-shock model with discrete-time is defined by combining $delta$-shock and extreme shock models. In this model, a system with multiple states fails in two ways: first, when k interarrival times between two consecutive shocks with magnitude larger than the critical threshold $gamma$ are in $[delta_1, delta _2], delta_1 < delta _2$; and second, when the interarrival t...

In a system, prediction of remaining useful lifetime (RUL) of servicing before reaching to a specified breakdown threshold is a very important practical issue, and research in this field is still regarded as an appreciated research gap. Operational environment of an equipment is not constant and changes regarding to stresses and shocks. These random environmental factors accelerate system deter...
